It is often difficult to get good information about anti-aging skin care products which really fulfill their advertised potential. Usually it is far better to use creams which require a prescription rather than over the counter anti- wrinkle creams.
Why does our skin age? The u/v radiation from the sun penetrates the skin and causes changes to the cell walls. As time passes, wrinkles, age spots, and dryness of the skin develop. The skin becomes thinner and translucent, and creates the skin appearance which we call skin aging.
Anti-Aging Skin Care Problems.
Most anti-aging skin care creams advertised as creating a ‘youthful’ appearance do not achieve their potential in reality, but provide a good cover for the damage which has already been done. Here is a list of typical anti-aging skin care problems and possible solutions.—
- Wrinkles. These are always the main target of anti-wrinkle cream products. Primarily there are two main causes of facial wrinkling: Exposure to u/v light and smoking, both of which are controllable if not entirely preventable. Far better anti-wrinkling ‘medicines’ are to stop smoking and to use protection from sunlight such as taking care with clothing on sunny days, and using sun screening and blocking agents.
- Age Spots. Age spots are oval shaped, flat, brown spots which appear on the skin. Usually they appear on the face, upper torso, and arms. They are caused by direct exposure to the sun, and the risk of suffering from them increases with the aging process. There are some anti-aging creams which can help fade the age spots, but the best treatment is prevention by the use of sun blockers.
- Dry and Itchy Skin. As we age the effectiveness of the sweat glands, and the glands which produce the natural oils for moisturizing the skin is considerably reduced. This results in skin dryness and itchiness. The condition increases with age.
The use of soap, perfumes, deodorants, and taking too many hot baths should be avoided. Anti-aging skin creams will provide temporary relief only, but will not provide any kind of permanent cure.
Skin Bruising. A further skin problem associated with skin aging is bruising. Again this is due to the u/v radiation of the sun causing the skin to become thinner. Some anti-aging skin creams instead of helping the situation actually cause the skin to become thinner. It is far better to avoid the onset of skin bruising by taking care of the skin early on in life, by the use of sun block cream.
The development of skin cancer is directly attributable to the action of u/v radiation on the skin. Some forms of skin cancer can be fatal since the malignancy can spread to other body organs. Skin cancer is easily treated if caught in the early stages, but is the most common type of cancer suffered by people in the over 65 years age group
